The school has offered parents the opportunity to take part in a new programme called Parent to Parent. It is a series of workshops which looks at the problems encountered by teenagers, and their parents, as they attempt to navigate their way in a fast changing world. Issues such as violence, sexual promiscuity, drug abuse, and many more are explored in relation to young people and their families.
There has been an overwhelming response from parents wishing to participate in this programme – five courses will be run. Parents were contacted to allocate the course which bests suited them, i.e., parents of senior cycle students together and parents of junior cycle student together. Three courses were organised before Christmas, and two more will begin early in 2003. We would like to thank everybody who has expressed an interest in the programme. We don’t doubt that the workshops and discussions will be invaluable to all those who attend. |
