Bullying

Our school community believes that each student has a right to an education free from fear, annoyance intimidation. Bullying is not tolerated.

ANTI-BULLYING CHARTER

  1. We want the Ardscoil na mBráithre to be free from bullying.
  2. There should be no name calling.
  3. There should be no physical abuse.
  4. There should be no "ganging" up on people.
  5. Everyone should feel respected.
  6. We all share the responsibility that each student's property is respected.
  7. Anti-social behaviour is not acceptable or condone~.
  8. Problems should be shared.
  9. We all share responsibility to ensure that bullying is not tolerated.

PROCEDURE TO DEAL WITH A SITUATION

  • All students are made aware of the Anti-Bullying Charter formally by Principal each year
  • A copy of the Charter is displayed in each classroom.
  • Students are reminded regularly of our Anti-Bullying policy.
  • Students are encouraged to report all cases of bullying.

(Principal/Deputy Principal/Assistant Principal/Class Teacher) will deal with the issue and in each case establish:

  1. the veracity
  2. the intent
  3. the seriousness
  4. the effect on the bullied student
  5. rehabilitation of bullied student and person(s) involved in incident

In each case, the students who are bullied and who bully are helped to deal with the issue by the appropriate school authorities.

Parents may be invited to meet the Principal and the student may be suspended. If the bullying re-occurs, the case may be referred to the Board of Management.

It is made clear to all students that when they report incidents of bullying they are behaving responsibly.
