High School CBS Rugby
Rugby is an integral part of the sporting life of High School CBS, with an extensive rugby programme catering for students across a range of age groups and abilities. The school fields teams at U14, U15, U16, U18 and U19 level in Munster Rugby Schools competitions, providing students with the opportunity to develop their skills, enjoy competitive rugby and represent their school at provincial level.
Our rugby teams have enjoyed considerable success in recent years, winning the U16 Mungret Shield, U15 McCarthy Cup and U15 Cleary Cup. The school has also qualified for the prestigious Munster Schools Junior Cup and Senior Cup, reflecting the high standards and commitment of our players and coaching staff.
Students have access to excellent playing facilities, with home fixtures hosted on our school 4G rugby pitch and at Clonmel RFC. Our rugby programme places a strong emphasis on player development, teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship and creating opportunities for students to reach their full potential both on and off the field.
As part of our commitment to providing outstanding opportunities for our students, High School CBS offers an annual Rugby Scholarship in association with Clonmel RFC Camida Youth Academy. Each year, one fortunate student is selected to attend a ten-day rugby camp in France during the summer holidays, providing an exciting opportunity to develop their rugby skills while experiencing a different rugby culture.
We also place great importance on building strong links with our local primary feeder schools. Through our community partnership with local primary schools, we promote rugby among prospective students by hosting Munster Rugby blitzes, giving young players the opportunity to experience the game, develop their skills and become familiar with the High School CBS rugby programme.
At High School CBS, rugby is about much more than competition. It is about participation, development, teamwork, friendship and pride in representing our school. We welcome students of all abilities and look forward to helping the next generation of High School CBS rugby players take to the field.
