The Career Event for 6th Years was held in the High School on Dec.1st. Loretta Brady from UCC gave a very informative talk to Parents and 6th years on the merits of doing an Arts Degree. Many of the students this year are interested in various branches of engineering. Sheila Tuohy from Abbott guided students on skills needed for engineering courses while Paul Morris from Clonmel Co Council separated the differences between Civil Engineering and Architecture.
Meanwhile Ken Hennessey presented a very interactive session on being an Architect. In other groups Business was a popular option on the night,students had already explored the job of an Accountant with John Desmond the previous day.The job of Primary School Teaching was discussed in an enthusiastic session by John Morris and Fiona Corcoran. Law was steered by Clare McCarthy with some students enquiring if they needed to do a Law Degree in order to join the Guards. Finally the Computer Science session was led by Paul Barry and Sean Cooney informed students on the best way to undertake a degree in Agricultural Science
