2007/2008

Football Year
Our football year had many ups and downs during this school period but nevertheless we had some fantastic achievements. At under 15 level we reached our second Munster final in a row . We won this Munster title the previous year and were going in as champions. Unfortunately we had a slow start to this game and it probably cost us the match against a very good Dingle side. It was still a great achievement to get to the Munster final two years in a row. At Under 16/1/2 level we had a great year. This was our first year playing in the ‘A’ level competition, the Corn an Fhriunnaigh cup. We beat St Flannans and Colaiste Chriost Ri to reach the Munster final at ‘A’ level for the first time ever. We eventually lost to a very good Tralee C.B.S. side but we put up a great show and with five minutes remaining we were awarded a penalty with five points between the sides. Unfortunately we missed the penalty and our chance of victory was gone . We can be very proud of our achievement on reaching the Munster Final in our first year at this standard of Munster Football.

Our Under 18 team had mixed fortunes .We lost to Cashel in the County competition, the Mac Gabhann Cup by three points. This was our first game and we probably had not got enough work done at this stage. The next game was against Castle troy Community College from Limerick who had a very good side and in an exciting match we eventually emerged winners by the narrowest of margins ,the point being scored by David McGrath. Next up was Carrigline Community College from Cork. At this stage we had lost Ciaran Lorrigan to injury which was a big blow to the team. We went down to Carrigline by two points in a game that flowed from end to end and with a bit of luck it could have gone our way but it was not to be.

Overall there was some great performances over the year and we can look forward to next year with great hope that it will be a successful year at all levels. At this time of writing our under 14 team are preparing for the Rockwell Blitz and we wish them every success in this competition
