Congratulations to our Under-17 Hurlers who overcame Cahir C.S. in the Fitzgerald Shield Semi-Final on Wednesday (2-2-2000). The following was the panel of players:

Cahir proved to be very strong opposition. It was only in the last few minutes that we put a safe distance between ourselves and Cahir. It was great to win such a tough encounter and to qualify for the final where the opposition will be Carrick C.B.S. who will prove to be very difficult to overcome. We owe them a beating!

Ian and Paul who had great games at midfield in the first half. It was in the second half that their incredible fitness paid dividends. (Rumour has it that Ian runs six miles every morning before school. Paul runs up and down Slievenaman twice a week)

Hard luck to our Under-17 Hurlers who were defeated by a very strong Carrick side in the Fitzgerald Shield Final on Friday (11-2-2000). The following was the panel of players:

In the end it was the concession of three early first half goals that separated the two sides. Carrick started the game in very determined fashion. By the end of the first half High School had settled into the game but had a lot of ground to make up. Despite conceding a goal early in the second half High School battled hard to break down the tough Carrick defence. The best efforts of Shane Walsh and Emmet Hallinan, who were probably the two best players on the field, were not enough to turn the game around. Luck was definitely not on our side on the day.

It was a disappointing end to a great season for the U-17 hurlers. The panel of players gave great commitment throughout and displayed an abundance of hurling ability. Good luck to all in the future!
Highschool: 3-05 Cashel C.S.: 3-07
Munster Hurling Championship U15
Commiserations to our U-15 hurlers who were defeated by Cashel on Wednesday, 29 th February. High School were unlucky to lose this evenly matched encounter. High School had created most of the scoring opportunities in the first half but found a cross-field wind difficult to deal with. In the second half the skillful and more economical Cashel side established a lead and at one stage were six points ahead. With great heart the Clonmel side, lead by their captain, Liam Lawlor, fought their way back into the game. Indeed they could have snatched a draw at full time when a great shot by Ronan Crosse went inches over the bar.
